County Cake

During the American Great Depression, my great-grandparents were working for the county which gave them little income. because of this, there was little left to spend on desserts and sweets. The County Cake is a cake recipe that uses fewer ingredients making it cheaper and more affordable which can come in handy when you still want a basic cake on a low budget.
Ingredients
- 2 Eggs
- 2 Cups of Sugar
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 1/2 Cups Flour
- 1 Cup of Boiling Water
- 1/2 Cup Butter
- 1/2 Cup Sour Milk(add 1/2 tsp Vinegar to Milk to make it sour)
- 3 Tbsp Cocoa
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla
Instructions
- Cream Butter and Sugar
- Crack and add Eggs
- Put Baking Soda in the Milk you soured with Vinegar
- Add to Egg Mixture along with Cocoa, Flour, Boiling Water, Vanilla, and Salt
- Pour into a 9x13-Inch Pan
- Bake for 45mins at 350 Degrees
